Props.

I have decided to go against using props for my front cover , as I do not want to take away any messages the picture is trying to convey. However I may use some microphones or guitars in my contents page to bring it to life.

Location

For my location I have decided to use a green screen to take my pictures over, as it will allow me to play around with different backgrounds and put in a solid background colour. Deciding to use a green screen is a good feature as my options for editing are infinite which will allow me to make the best pictures possible.

Costume

My actor will wear a black shirt, with black jeans and black pumps, i have chosen this as black is mysterious. And as my actor in my magazine is the "new kid on the block" the black costume will allow me to attract readers as the picture will be eye catching as it will be on a block coloured background.

The black will also help by making my actors facial features more defined and it will allow the audience to be drawn into his face and understand the message behind the image.

My actor will be Adam Duffy, i have chosen him as he has got a lot of very good features, so can be used to appeal to the female audience. However he also is a popular person among males which will not make males readers want to stop reading the magazine.

What will my magazine be?

My magazine will be done on the pop genre, I have chosen pop as I am a pop fan myself and prefer the layout of the pop magazines i have seen.

Target audience:
                         I will be aiming my magazines at 16-18 year olds. As this is my age group.
                         The gender will be for both male and females. Which will get more sales
                         The social status will be for teens, however for more mature teenagers.
                         The price range will be on a subscription bases of £4.99 per month. which will include
                         a digital copy, which rivals the billboard magazine which will allow my magazine to
                         make more sales.
                         My magazine will feature bands such as One Direction, Justin Bieber and Little Mix
                         range of bands will allow my magazine to appeal to the target audience i have set.

Q Magazine


Q magazine is one of the companies i am looking at, Q magazine is published by the bauer media group, which took over from EMAP is 2008.
Q magazine has sells 52,781 copies a year and is sold on a monthly frequency. the company was started in 1986.

MOJO Magazine
MOJO magazine is another company i am looking at, Mojo Magazine is also published by the bauer media group, Mojo magazine was created after the success of Q magazine as the company wanted a magazine that reached out to a modern rock audience. Mojo sells 79,345 magazines a year on a monthly frequency.

Billboard
Billboard magazine is the final company i am looking at, Billboard is published by John J Kilcullen
who began to publish then in 2003. Billboard is released on a weekly bases and sells 16,327 copies. Billboard is targeted at a audience that are fans of the music chart.

Style Model 3

This Magazine is my second style model,I have chosen this because i think it has a really professional look, I also think that the design is very well laid out as the cover lines are distributed around Noel Galagers head giving it a very funky design while still  keeping Noel Galager the centre of the page. Having the background a light shade of blue in a gradient fading to white this gives the magazine cover editor the ability to use whatever colour he wants for the text allowing the unique colour choices. This Magazine comes from the Q Magazine company. Which is a Magazine which covers all genres and is targeted at young professionals.

The Q magazine comes in 3 separate packages,
The Print, The Digital and The Print and Digital package. 
The cheapest package is priced at 30-35 pound.

This Magazine is my second style model,I have chosen this because i think it has a really professional look, I also think that the design is very well laid out as the cover lines are distributed between the top and the bottom of the page, so that the artist BOWIE stands out clearly in the centre of the magazine allowing the readers to see immediately who the main taking point of the issue is.Having the background all black is a very nice feature as it makes the image stand out as the image is in white .This Magazine comes from the MOJO Magazine company. Which is a Magazine which covers all genres.

This is my first style model i have chosen. I have chosen this because i think it has a really professional look, I also think that the design is very well laid out as the cover lines are all put over to the left so that "Trey Songz" stands out to advertise the magazine as it grabs the audiences attention immediately.

Having the background blurred out also is a very nice feature as it doesn't take away what the image is trying to say to us.

Music Genre's That Interest Me.

The Music Genre that interests me is the pop genre. It interests me because the picture on the front cover can be as unique as you like because every artist in the pop genre want to be "unique" so they show there personality through the front cover. For example...

In this picture Justin Bieber and Usher are trying to use the image to show that they have a good friendship, while still showing there "unique" personality.

final contents page!!

This is my final finished product of my contents page, in my final session i added a box showing where i would place a picture of the headteacher. i chose the head teacher because he symbolises the school so having him next to the sub title "our school" shows he is heavily  involved in the school.

Important Pages.

In this session I have added a section telling the reader what pages in the magazine are the most important and i have made sure that the text catches their eye by adding in the stroke effect. This effect adds a black outline to the text making it bolder and easier to read.
I have also make the text white as it contrasts with the black making it look professional.

My first Picture! (Contents Page.)

In this session i have added my first picture for my contents page, i have chosen this picture because it is a very good demonstration of the standard of art at my school. It also stands out a lot and looks very appealing. I have used effects to make my image clearer and to add a layer around it to make it catch a readers eyes more.

Start of contents page.

In this session i have started my contents page. I have chosen to make my text stand out by using blending options such as drop shadow, inner shadow, bevel and emboss and stroke. This combination allows me to create a black glow around the text which along with a blue background makes a very clear title.

Trainspotting Homework

The start of the scene uses non diegetic sound (a voice over) this sets the mood for the start of the film and instantly connects us with the main character as we are hearing his thoughts. The sound then moves into diegetic dialog which says alot of pointless personal jokes about drug use between the characters 'But he knows a lot about Sean Connery’ this dialog is designed to make the audience laugh due to the random non related topic. The director then uses non diegetic sound as it goes back into the voice over again, letting us hear the character joke to himself as he leaves the room ‘of course i will have another one.’ Before leading into a bridge which has the sounds of train horns and a train on a track which is used as the title of the film is shown on the screen. This is used as the sound relates to the name of the film 'Trainspotting'.

As the noise of the train slowly fades out the sound bridges again to non diegetic as a piece of music begins to play. The music is classical music which is used to create humour and show a contrast between what we are seeing and what he is thinking as the music used is asynchronous sound as it does not relate to the topic of rehabilitation and creates the illusion that this is his normal everyday routine. The sound then tracks back to a non diegetic voice over listing the materials needed to quit drugs. The voice over is used to create humour and disgust as he begins his battle to quit taking heroine. The director creates these feeling through the use of pornography and the three buckets used for the three bodily fluids. There is then some more non diegetic sound placed over the music as another voice over is heard the voice over says 'my mother who is in her own domestically and socially expectable way a drug addict' tells us that he has been brought up around drugs so what he is doing now is normal for him. The scene then ends with diegetic sound as the main character meets a dealer called micky, however he brings the wrong drug he relies by saying ‘the f*** are these' this is used to create humour to finish of the scene.

In this session i have added more text to draw in the reader of the magazine with exciting titles.

Text improvements

In this session i have moved the text on my page around to make it look more presentable, and i have added new text and an issue number with the school logo.

In This session i have added a Masthead using the text tool.

I used these tools to make my mast head stand out.

Fault in the page size ?!

As i was about to put a background in i realised that my page size was incorrect. so i had to change the dimensions to 42.02 x 59.8 This is the correct size for a cover picture.

second edit (spot and freckles removed and cropped)

In this session i made my models face clearer by using the spot healing brush tool. this allowed me to get rid of any spots and large freckles. I also used the cropping tool to get rid of the excess space behind my models face. In my next session i will find myself a background to work with.

First Edit

In my first edit i have successfully removed the background from my picture, giving me a blank canvas to work on.
In my next session i will attempt to clear my models face from spots and crop out any unnecessary space.

Cover Picture

This is the picture i have chosen to use as my school magazine cover. in the next few sessions i will photoshop this tho make it look more professional.

• I chose to take my title shot on one of the school benches positioned just outside the library  this allows me to do a low shot of my actor reading a book on the bench with "welcome to the library" present in the background. This shows that Oldershaw students enjoy reading and that Oldershaw has a relaxed environment
• Actors
• I have chosen to use a 6th form student as my model, and he will be dressed in smart formal wear. this shows that the 6th form students strive on making an effort and that they are good role models of the school.

• I have chosen to do a low angled MCU shot, this allows me to get a clear picture of the actors face showing his enthusiasm.

• My actor will be reading a text book, which shows us that the schools enjoys reading and a very good academically
